Wall & Ceiling Paint

Calculate paint needed for walls and ceilings

🎨 Calculate Paint Needed

Typical: 8-12 m²/L

📐 How We Calculate

The paint calculator uses the following formula:

Wall Area = 2 × (Length + Width) × Height
Door Area = Doors × 2.0 m²
Window Area = Windows × 1.5 m²
Ceiling Area = Length × Width
Paintable Area = Wall Area - Door Area - Window Area + Ceiling Area (if selected)
Paint Needed = (Paintable Area × Coats) / Coverage
With Safety Margin = Paint Needed × 1.1 (10% extra)

Safety Margin: We add 10% extra paint to account for waste, touch-ups, and coverage variations.

Standard Sizes: Door = 2.0 m² (approx. 0.9m × 2.1m), Window = 1.5 m² (approx. 1.2m × 1.2m)

Frequently Asked Questions

A standard room (4m × 3.5m × 2.7m ceiling) typically requires 8-10 liters of paint for 2 coats on walls and ceiling, depending on paint coverage (usually 8-12 m²/L).

Paint coverage (m²/L) indicates how many square meters one liter of paint can cover. Standard emulsion paint covers 8-12 m²/L. Check the paint can label for exact coverage.

Painting the ceiling is recommended for a complete refresh. If your ceiling is in good condition and doesn't need repainting, uncheck the "Paint ceiling" option to save paint.

Two coats are recommended for best results and even coverage. For dark colors or if painting over a very different color, consider 3 coats.
